Types of Work
Day-to-Day Supply Teaching
Also commonly referred to as relief teaching. This type of employment is offered by schools that have short term absences such as sickness or other emergencies and only require teachers to work for one given day or for a short period of time. This type of employment is attractive for many overseas teachers arriving in the UK as it does allow you to sample a variety of schools and discover what type of school would suit you best. However teachers traveling on a Tier 2 General Skilled Worker Visa, (Sponsorship) are not permitted to work on a supply basis.
Guaranteed Payment Scheme (GPS)
Vision for Education is an innovative agency as a result we are able to offer more services and extra benefits to our Teachers. The “Guaranteed Payment Scheme” has been launched to offer and ensure a steady flow of supply teaching work. By joining this scheme, we can ensure you will be paid whether we get you work or not. If we are unable to offer you work, then you still get paid for that day or days. Through this scheme we are aiming to increase continuity for you the teacher, and our schools. We will aim to send you to your preferred schools and we encourage them to pre book you in advance.
The “Guaranteed Payment Scheme” offers security and continuity. GPS is only available to teachers that hold an appropriate visa. If you are interested in joining this scheme, then please contact your Vision for Education consultant.
Long Term Teaching
This type of employment is most common and can run from 5 weeks to a term or longer. Teachers accepting long term positions will appreciate the stability of consistent work, five days a week. As a long-term teacher you will have all the benefits of a full time member of staff. You can enjoy teaching your own class(es) and become an integral part of each student’s development. In addition as a long term teacher you will have full classroom teacher responsibilities including lesson plans, student assessments, liaising with parents and other staff, and you may also be involved in professional development.
Permanent Teaching
Permanent teaching placements are for those interested in securing a permanent teaching job or for those overseas teachers who require Sponsorship. Schools who offer permanent teaching position will generally require at least one-year commitment.
