UK teaching jobs as individual as you

Transitional Support

Vision for Education understands that it is a big decision to teach in the UK and as such we provide support services to make your transition to the UK as comfortable and seamless as possible. We assist in the following ways:

Money and Banking

Your finances are one of the most important considerations when planning to travel and work in another country. Having lived and worked in the UK we can advise you on all your money issues including how much you will need for visas, living costs, accommodation and related costs, childcare costs, taxation and of course your salary.

Also find out how to set up a Limited Company to reduce tax liability and make your pay go further.

Transferring money from your overseas account or considering options to travel or access your money safely are keys to your livelihood. We can advise on different options to suit you.

Flights and Travel

There is a wide choice of flights available in travel centres and on the Internet. Cost will largely depend on the time of year you travel and also how direct the flight is. It is possible to find discounted International flights to the UK but you should consider the number of stops and duration of the flight. Around the World tickets are often good value (similar in price to a regular return ticket) as many of these tickets allow travel and stopovers in multiple destinations of your choice and for your choice of duration. Often these are flexible tickets which allow a number of free changes to coincide with your travel plans and certainly offer a great additional experience either before you arrive or after you leave the UK. Travel with Family, Children and Pets

Many teachers travel with friends, family or pets which are all additional considerations you should plan for before your departure and we can provide you with assistance on these matters.

If you are traveling with school aged children we will be able to advise you on free schooling/childcare and often your children can attend the school that you work in or one close by. Many schools are happy to advise and assist you with these matters.

If you are taking your pets with you it is important to check whether they need to go through quarantine and the procedures for this. For further information about traveling with pet, see your local vet.

Check with your Career Manager before you book your flights as to whether your visa will allow you to tax offset the cost of travel through a Limited company we are partnered with.

Accommodation and Living Costs

There are wide choices of accommodation types available to suit any budget or situation. Accommodation is a very personal choice, so we leave it up to you to make a final decision on your perfect living situation. We can offer you information about locations close to your new job or advise you on the best areas to live and work especially if considering supply work. Often schools and other teachers have information on share houses and rentals which we can pass on to you as well.

Insurance

In some countries it is commonplace to pay or make contributions towards healthcare. Whilst working in the UK and paying tax and National Insurance contributions you and your family will be eligible for free healthcare.

It may be good idea to obtain insurance protection for your luggage, belongings and car (if you choose to purchase one). You may choose to get travel insurance just to cover your flights (including delays/ loss of accommodation) baggage and you whilst you travel to the UK. Once you arrive in the UK and find accommodation you may look into home contents insurance for your possessions. Premiums are usually affordable for a reasonable level of cover.

If you do choose to purchase a vehicle (which may be essential if living outside of London/Home Counties) you will be expected to have appropriate insurance for your vehicle and this will depend on the value and age of your vehicle.

There are many companies offering a wide range of packages to suit your insurance needs so shop around.
